A Railway in Your Backyard

A Railway in Your Backyard

So many times over the years, people have told us how they'd love to have a ride-on railway in their own backyard. Well now you can!

While the heavy weight commercial duty 7.25" gauge trains our sister company ran at The Train Shed are beyond what is needed both in power and costs for home use, the Mini Train Systems range of 5" gauge ride-on electric trains are perfect for the suburban backyard.
We have locomotives and rolling stock capable of going around curves of only 2.5m radius! You can buy small and keep it that way, or expand and upgrade as your interest grows.

A Mini Train Systems backyard railway package comprising a Maxitrak "Planet," Mini Train Systems riding car, passenger car and track can start for well under $10,000! What a great way to entertain yourself, your children and your friends.
Our track is the tried and proven Mini Train Systems welded steel track, proven in commercial operation for 20 years at The Train Shed. We even provide advice to help you plan out your railway.

We have recently installed two very different railways in backyards in New South Wales:

'A Railway for Joyce' was built up in Taree over just two days, and provides a wonderful short journey through their garden! The total materials cost was less than $8000, including track, train, gravel, and all landscaping. The happy couple helped out in the construction works to save time and money too!

'Constantinople' was a far larger endeavour and resulted in a very enjoyable, practical and beautiful railway. This railway involved cuttings, a beautiful retained embankment, a crossover, two branch spurs and fully remote controlled electric points. The journey is set through a large open garden, with features alongside to liven up the trip!
