QR 2400 and 2170 Class

Built by Clyde Engineering at Eagle Farm in 1977-1978, the 2400 class locomotives were part of the 1500hp family of the new generation of EMD locomotives. They saw heavy usage across the state, with a total of 24 built.

The 2170 class are part of the 2000hp series, built by Clyde at Rocklea in 1982-1984. These were built for Coal haulage, then moved to general services across the QR network after electrification.

Mini Train Systems builds these locomotives in 5" gauge, with an extremely powerful 1800w 24v drive package. They will haul virtually any load on 5" gauge railways. Let's put them to the challenge!

Built to 1:8 / 1.5" scale with a high level of detail, these will impress on any railway.

  • Key operated disable switch
  • Power connector for driving car mounted battery
  • 'Break away' disable feature
  • Improved Hand Held tether control.
  • MTS MU (Multiple Unit) Control System. This enables two or more engines to be coupled together and driven by the one driver. Power and control jumper cables link the locos together. Compatible with all MTS MU engines.
